Today's WOD: Grace
30 clean and jerks for time
75# (85# Rx'd)
I got 6:12. Not ready to go up to 85# yet, and I still overthought the lifts, but I know I overthought them a little less than last time. One thing I need to overcome is standing too long with the weight above my head. I gotta drop it as soon as I get it up there. But I should be happy, it's an 18% improvement in my time. And my form felt good, and I didn't freak out.
My Grace history:
- November 19, 2008: 4:46 with 48#
- January 15, 2009: 7:57 with 58#
- July 15, 2009: 7:36 with 75#
- October 1, 2009: 6:12 with 75#
3 rounds for time of:
40 Kettlebell snatch 12 kg
30 box jumps 20"
My time: 12:20. With a migraine. Also did weightlifting at 6:30 but had to cut it short due to aforementioned migraine. I think I did make some progress on the "jump and shrug" before I left though. I'm hoping to go again tomorrow evening.
It's Mountain Day!
Today is Mountain Day! Mountain Day is a tradition at my college (Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA). Every fall, one early morning, phones started ringing, there were voices in the halls, posters went up, and we learned that it was Mountain Day! All classes were canceled for the day and they bussed us up to a nearby state park to play in the mountains all day. Rugby games, tug of war in the mud, a picnic, and just playing outside like when you were a kid.
Alums are supposed to uphold the tradition by getting out and celebrating, ditching the regular routine in at least some small way and having fun. Yay Mountain Day! Today I'm celebrating by going to Mountain Sun for lunch (not technically in the mountains, but still in the spirit) and heading home a little early to enjoy the evening on my deck in the mountains. If you can, get outside, get out of your routine a little, and do something a little special to enjoy the day today. Have a great Mountain Day, everyone!
